I have some ides for applying (close-to)
realistic-looking head-lamps / tail-lamps.
These ideas seem to work for well for me.

For large-area lenses (aero-covers), try
chrome tape (like air-conditioning foil-tape,
or the real chrome MonoKote modeling tape)

Here are the tools I use. You will need brass rod (1/32, .032). A pair of cutters and a pair or pliers. Something to mark the axle with. A hammer, I use a mini hammer but you don't have too. Your chassis and your donor wheels.

The size of the drop will depend on the size of the needle eye you choose.

Take your dremel tool and take just the very end of the eye off...leaving the two sidewalls of the eye. You can use a file if you do not have a dremel.

Now put a drop of super glue on any plastic surface and dip the cut eye into the super glue.
